Movement & Breath
Ocean Breath
The breath the sea taught us.
3 min read
Watch the sea long enough and your breath remembers. In, gather. Out, release. There is no urgency to the tide.
How We Hold This Knowledge
Rooted Ritual™ honors Caribbean traditions while distinguishing cultural wisdom from medical advice. Our wellness library is designed for education, reflection, and daily ritual support. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace care from a qualified healthcare professional.
Current understanding
Ocean breath — long inhale, longer exhale — settles the nervous system in minutes. You don't need the sea to do it. You only need to borrow its rhythm.
A Rooted Ritual practice
Five minutes of ocean breath
- Sit comfortably. Soften the jaw and the shoulders.
- Inhale slowly through the nose for 4 counts.
- Exhale through the mouth, soft as wind, for 8 counts.
- Repeat for five minutes.
A Reflection
"What in you is the tide, today — coming in, or going out?"
