The Bush Bath
Water, leaves, and the body returning to itself.
4 min read
A bush bath is a Caribbean inheritance — leaves steeped in hot water, poured over the body with prayer, intention, or simply long breath.
How We Hold This Knowledge
Rooted Ritual™ honors Caribbean traditions while distinguishing cultural wisdom from medical advice. Our wellness library is designed for education, reflection, and daily ritual support. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace care from a qualified healthcare professional.
Current understanding
This is not a recipe. It is a posture. You are not washing. You are returning.
A Rooted Ritual practice
A simple at-home bush bath
- Steep a handful of fresh herbs (mint, basil, rosemary) in 4 cups of just-boiled water for 15 minutes. Strain.
- Run a warm bath, or stand in a warm shower with a large bowl of the herbal water.
- Pour the herbal water slowly over your shoulders, naming silently what you are washing away.
- Sit afterward, undisturbed, for ten minutes.
A Reflection
"What would you ask the water to take, if you trusted it could?"
